Da Bears Week 4 Recap

Da Bears beat the Carolina Panthers this past Sunday 34-29 and it wasn’t their best game but it was better than the last two losses. The offense had its moments and special teams really came up big. The Monsters of the Midway couldn’t stop rookie sensation Cam Newton they gave up over 500 yards. Cam Newton is serious business he will be a Superstar. My thoughts on the victory were the Defense needs some help in the secondary without Chris Harris they just don’t make the right calls and big plays are happening too often. Matt Forte pay that man his money he goes for 205 yards on the ground and is by far the best player on offense if not the team. Devin Hester wow he just gets better and better as a return specialist now as a wide receiver he needs work. It was nice to see Marion Barber finally play but my man no more back flips in the end zone. Overall a good win and now on to Detroit for a Monday Night showdown and the Lions are ballin so the Defense better get a rush or its going to be a long night with Megatron out on the wing ready to ball. Cutler needs a nice passing game for his confidence and get Kellen Davis involved let our tight end run wild like everyone else’s does against us. GO BEARS!!!!

Da Bears Week 2

Bears lose to the Saints 30-13 and it wasn't a pretty loss if there ever is such a thing. The offensive line gave up six sacks and not all were their fault Cutler held the ball a little too long on a couple and Martz keep calling five to seven step drops which were pointless with the Saints rush. Matt Forte had a great game he was the offensive receiving and rushing. The Bears Defense gave up some big plays which they can't do and hey couldn't stop Jimmy Graham the Saints tight end who was open every play it seemed. Brian Urlacher gave a courageous effort after the death of his mother this week. They will have to get healthy quick in the secondary. Bears lost some key players in Earl Benett, Gabe Camiri, and Major Wright but others have to step up when they are called. No excuses you are paid to play the game. Next week Bears vs. Packers should be intense, hard hitting, and hard fought so get ready Bears fans it's Packers Week...BEAR DOWN!!!!

Confronting Love of Sports

I play the  lottery at the same place everyday and the young man who works there always picks the opposite team that I picked I was unclear why until recently when he told me it was because I was so into sports knowing everything about the team, statistics, and even strategy in some cases. He said it was great seeing my well thought out predictions go down in flames while his casual picks win. The funny thing is when he told me I laughed and just thought to myself wow I am a sports FANATIC and he is just going against me due to my loyalty to my beloved teams (Cubs, Bears, Bulls, and a few others I won’t name).

This brought back memories of how I feel in love with sports first baseball and one of my all time favorite teams the 1975 Cincinnati Reds (The Big Red Machine) I wanted to play with the passion of Peter Rose and the grace of Joe Morgan and Dave Concepcion. This led to my love of the Cubs yes the loveable loser with my favorite team being the 1984 Cubs they electrified Chicago. I had given up my MLB dreams by then and was now a self-proclaimed Hooper on and off the court oh the games I played in the gym at Lab School. I was fully swept into basketball by number 23 from North Carolina Michael Jordan!!!! Being on board since the original Flight 23 was incredible too many moments to name but if you were into basketball or watched television, you know what I am talking about. I also discovered that football was one of my sports loves that started with Walter Payton running over defenders, past outstretched arms, and playing a game with so much passion you had to like him. The beloved Bears they are Chicago’s team bar none they represent us all no matter what neighborhood, race, or class. The 86 Bears yes bold enough to make a video about winning the Super Bowl and then doing it Chicago all the way.

I didn’t mean to write this much got caught up in my teams well I guess I just wanted to say that it’s been hard since the Bulls lost no Sportscenter or other shows right now but in time I will be back to analyzing and rooting on my teams actually any team I just love SPORTS that much.

Thank You Chicago Bulls!!!!

I am dealing with a big personal loss this year with the death of my father in February and have received a tremendous amount of support from friends, family, and coworkers. I would like to thank them all for that it is appreciated more than they know.

In dealing with this loss I have found solace in the Chicago Bulls I followed them as I normally do every year but after February my interest was raised I watched games more intensely and with more passion than normal coaching from the couch or wherever I was watching the game. The play of Derrick Rose is a beautiful thing to watch the way he can break down a defense and get to the basket at will is just jaw dropping. I have been critical of Boozer in the playoffs but truth be told it’s because I love his game smooth and graceful around the basket and plays defense like I use to not very well. I was skeptical of Deng in previous years and now I am a huge fan of his defense and all around versatility. Noah what can I say you are Mr. Energy and the most impressive thing is how hard you worked to get better every year that is very inspirational. Ashton Kutcher aka Kyle Korver keep shooting the shots will fall and watching you run through the maze of screens is something a true basketball fan appreciates.

I would talk basketball with my father and he was a critical analyst but fair and taught me a lot on how to break down a game and we didn’t agree on certain players I respected his opinion greatly. I just want to congratulate and thank the Bulls for their success and for helping me deal with the loss of my father in an unexpected way…. GO BULLS!!!!
